WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS

Matthew 6:5-15

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

This, then, is how you should pray:

‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.’
For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Today I Will…

Live It Out - 365 Day Perpetual Calendar

  1. Today I will witness the choices I make in each moment. And in the mere witnessing of these choices, I will bring them to my conscious awareness. I will know that the best way to prepare for any moment in the future is to be fully conscious in the present.
  2. Whenever I make a choice, I will ask myself two questions: “What are the consequences of this choice that I’m making?” and “Will this choice bring fulfillment and happiness to me and also to those who are affected by this choice?”
  3. I will then ask my heart for guidance and be guided by its message of comfort or discomfort. If the choice feels comfortable, I will plunge ahead with abandon. If the choice feels uncomfortable, I will pause and see the consequences of my action with my inner vision. This guidance will enable me to make spontaneously correct choices for myself and for all those around me.

“Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation”. Habakkuk 3:17,18

Life is never a straight horizontal line from birth to death; its path is filled with twist and turns, challenges, and events that rock the very foundation of our belief system. Each morning we turn our Television or we browse the Internet, we get often bombarded with news of wars, negative economic predictions, violence, terrorism, and outbreak of new epidemic. The question that looms the heart of most Christians is “How do I stay happy in an unhappy world?”

Invest in Your Quiet Time

If we as believers are to enjoy a victorious Christian life which I know we all desire, our quiet time must be upheld in high esteem.  Quiet time is a time set apart for our personal fellowship and communion with God. Some choose to call it, daily devotion or personal fellowship. I call mine “fellowship with wisdom”. Whatever we choose to call it, the bottom line is- our goal should be- growing spiritually.

We are the creatures designed to interact and relate. Our body interacts and understands the environment through our senses: eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. Our mind interacts with the mental realm though thoughts and imaginations. Our spirit also interacts with the spirit realm where God is, through fellowship and communion with God. John 4:24 said “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”

Why is quiet time so important?
