I stood there at the crossroads
Not knowing which way to turn
Follow the wide, wide road to pleasure
Or step onto the narrow way and of You Jesus, learn
My heart, it beat so loudly
I’m sure the angels could hear
Everyone was moving so quickly
Oh! My soul, make a decision, you have nothing to fear
Chorus
And as You hung there
You took a breath for me
You watched me turn away
It was more than I could bear
Deep within Your heart, a tear fell silently
But You knew that one day I would come to understand
How my life, it had pierced Your heart
Oh! How it had pierced Your heart
And sweet love then tore it apart
Nothing to fear on the narrow
Nothing to fear in Your steps
Just follow the light of Your glory
Fall into Your waiting arms and feel the love in its depths
But the wide road looks clearer
I see around the corner
The narrow way is dark and hidden
If I step on, I might not be able to go further
Chorus
And as You hung there
You took a breath for me
You watched me turn away
It was more than I could bear
Deep within Your heart, a tear fell silently
But You knew that one day I would come to understand
How my life, it had pierced Your heart
Oh! How it had pierced Your heart
And sweet love then tore it apart
Then I heard a still small voice
And the Lord, He took my hand
He helped me take my very first step
Along the now lit, flower strewn way to the Promised Land
Chorus
And as You hung there
You took a breath for me
You watched me turn away
It was more than I could bear
Deep within Your heart, a tear fell silently
But You knew that one day I would come to understand
How my life, it had pierced Your heart
Oh! How it had pierced Your heart
And sweet love then tore it apart
And my burdens, they lifted
As the path before me cleared
Now my eyes could beautifully see
And I listened to angelic songs, like I’d never heard
0h! Jesus, my dear Saviour
Thank you for rescuing me
I’m no longer at the world’s crossroads
Life and peace, love and joy have now drawn me eternally
Yes I pierced Your heart
And my back was turned on You
I totally ignored You
As I went about my day
But You breathed Your dying love
Upon me and opened up my heart
Allowing me to receive all things
All things You now impart
And so I thank you
From the bottom of this new, new heart
This heart You’ve washed and comforted
This heart that cries ‘Thou Art’
I cannot ever fathom
Why You would love me so
But I am ever thankful
Oh! Lord, I love you so
I just want You to know
I just want You, want You to know
